Directory of International Financial Institutions
Work detail
This directory provides a brief guide to the world's major international financial institutions (IFIs), sometimes called "supranationals", and is intended to help customers and other interested parties to find their way round them. A main point of contact is given in each case, plus details of organisation, operations, chief executives and principal officials. We have included institutions that have government or central banks as share holders, which have broader economic goals than the pursuit of profit, and which are actively involved in, and of interest to, the financial markets. The IFIs (pronounded "iffies") are involved in the market in three different ways: through the coordination of policy, through the provision of information and analysis, and through borrowing and lending on the markets.
