Mombo is located in a group of islands at the north-western tip of Chief's Island in Moremi Game Reserve. The main Okavango River splits into its primary channels just upriver from Mombo Camp, ensuring that Mombo is the wettest and, in relative terms, most fertile area in the Delta. Mombo is located entirely within the Okavango rift system, an area with deep alluvial sand deposits, supporting mixed vegetation of swamps, floodplains, rivers, woodlands and dry woodlands. There is a high diversity of wildlife, and this is the reason why Mombo is the prime wildlife destination in Southern Africa. (from the book)
