Work detail
These musical diaries demonstrate a 19th century young woman's determination to follow her musical passion. Beginning in 1891 when she was 15 and ending in 1898 when she was 22, Kate Bundy kept daily accounts of her life, her musical education and her performances in a total of 29 notebooks. Her diaries include the names of many famous musical personalities of the 1890s, some of whom she met in person. She also kept programs of all the concerts in which she performed and those she attended. In 1895, at 19 years of age, Kate Bundy gave her debut concert at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, performing Anton Rubinstein's Concerto in D with the Damrosch New York Symphony Orchestra.
