"China Bull is a poetic re-telling of the story of Annie Caroline Dixon, a pioneer who lived in the Mitchell District of western Queensland in the early 1900s. The sequence of poems are a collaboration between Queensland poets Vanessa Page and John Koenig, who draw on their knowledge and feel for the Queensland outback and the history of the period, to tell the story from the perspective of Annie Caroline, and her jilted husband ‘Rager’ Wilson. China Bull is a non-fiction narrative, framed by the newspaper article about actual events, which appeared in the Brisbane Courier on 16 March 1909."--Publisher's website (viewed 11/30/2015).
