The has been designed to be of use to school children, adults and those new to the Acholi language. As a school text, it combines the thematic and grammar approaches to language teaching. The book starts of by introducing the use of vowels and later consonants in Acholi words. It gives many examples and exercises which would be invaluable both in a classroom situation and to the individual learner. At the end of every section, the author gives a short reading, which helps review the main sounds learnt in the section and prepares one for the following section. Many of the stories are educational in themselves. Moreover the author leaves the task of entitling the reading to the individual reader or as part of the class discussion. The book next covers the technicality of sentence construction in a simple format, alongside uses of punctuation marks. It then introduces the reader to letter writing, public notices and a bit of journalism. The book then covers some thematic issues, as used in Ugandan schools. The book was put together in consultation with experienced teachers, making it an invaluable tool for both learning and instruction. The many spaces left inside the book allows the individual to make notes and refer to it later. Not good for sharing, if you do not want a fight to develop among the users.
