After a messy divorce and fifteen years of listening to sob stories, New York City psychotherapist Janet Petrocelli is burnt out. Leaving that life behind, Janet has opened a used-stuff shop in the quirky Hudson River town of Sawyersville. But when the not-so-grande dame of an aristocratic family gone to seed offers her prized heirlooms for hasty sale and then turns up dead, Janet is pulled into murky depths of degeneracy and deceit.
