This monograph presents C.Y. Lee's major projects in full colour, with the architects' sketches, plans and descriptive text. Long before the international community recognized C.Y. Lee as the architect of the world's tallest skyscraper (the 508-metre-tall Taipei 101) his distinct buildings were already turning heads in Asia. His memorable buildings fuse the traditional with the modern, taking his cues from Chinese pagodas, old, square-holed Chinese copper coins, and the shape of Chinese characters. In the mid-1980s, after more than a decade of working as an architect in the US, he returned to Taiwan. This major monograph presents the firm's major projects and includes a number of pieces written by C.Y. Lee.
