French literature, Francophone literature - what is behind this seemingly obvious distinction? By revealing the existence of a line of color used to control an unequal literary order, Sarah Burnautzki explores the symbolic violence of racialization in the French literary space. Based on the literary classification challenge posed by the texts of Marie NDiaye and Yambo Ouologuem, and certain key moments so far not visible, research reveals the traces of conflicting negotiations of a literature perceived as 'African' or 'universal' .
