Berlin-born Otto Nebel (1892-1973) was a versatile and talented painter and author, who, like other members of the Sturm movement centred around Herwarth Walden experimented with language and images. His multifaceted oeuvre, which features painting, drawing, graphic art, collage and literary texts, is shown for the first time in its entirety on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his birthday. The exhibition takes place in Bern, where Nebel lived from 1933. The book accompanying the exhibition is structured thematically in accordance with the biographical stages in Nebel's life. A friend of Kandinsky, Klee, Schwitters and others, this publication reveals the real person behind the artist and presents his lyrical and painted works, together with his theories on art. A surprisingly modern, multimedia artist is rediscovered. Exhibition: Kunstmuseum Bern, Switzerland (9.11.2012-24.2.2013).
