Katherine Sonderegger2 editions

With her three volumes of Systematic Theology, Katherine Sonderegger offers a fresh take on full-scale dogmatics. In treating the comprehensive range of topics in systematic theology, the volumes also consciously engage in retrieval of biblical models and classical voices for contemporary readers. At the heart of this collection is a grand unfolding of the biblical confession of one God and one Lord, conducted in running conversation with the great thinkers of the classical and modern tradition--notably Thomas Aquinas and Karl Barth. There is a constructive vision, as well, that runs throughout these volumes: the reordering and reconstruction of the systematic loci to cohere more fully with a biblical pattern of confession of God and the two-fold work of creation and redemption. Volume 1 presents the doctrine of God--the one God--and the divine attributes. Volume 2 covers the Trinity and Christology--Christology as ordered and determined by the dogma of the Trinity. Volume 3 takes up the work of God in the world: creation and providence; church and world; eschatology. All together, these volumes will illuminate the mystery of who God is and the divine work that brings all things into being and returns them to God's perfections. (Publisher).
