A collection of early 20th century documental photographs of the colonization andmodernization process of the city of Valdivia and the region of Los Lagos in southern Chile bytraveling photographer Knittel (b. Chile) and his friend Volkmann. His archive is an historicvisual account of the city most important social and cultural events, the Mapuche ethniccommunities, the landscapes of the National Park Puyehue along registering the effects of 2 greatdisasters in Valdivia: the great fire of December, 1909 and the flooding in July 1922.
