Contributions in this volume deal with amici and socii: kings, rulers, cities, nationes, gentes who had connections with Rome. These "client states" will be considered both from a Roman and a regional perspective, with the goal of beginning a dialogue between different approaches and perspectives on the subject of "client kingship."
