Essays and poetry. Joserramón "Ché" Meléndes (1952) is a Puerto Rican poet and essayist. He practices an alternative orthography in his writing producing his literature phonetically replicating the sounds of the spoken Spanish language. He has also published Desimos désimos (1976), En Borges (1980), La poesía inebitable (1989), Para delfín (1992), Secretum (1993), Postemporáneos (1994), La casa de la forma (1997), Dobles de Elizam Escobar: con un interensayo (2002), Fondo de la máscara (2008), Senotafio (2009, Premio Poesía 2007 Insituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña), Contraqelarre (2009) y Dossier (2009). Meléndes was awarded the PEN Club of Puerto Rico National Literary Prize in 2002 and Instituto de Cultura Premio de Poesía & Ensayo (2007, 2008).
