In this book, a young girl and her grandfather sneak away from home one night in a bid to climb the staircase to the moon. The pair brave blood-thirsty mosquitoes, dive-bombing fruit bats, boab trees that loom like giants and sinking mangrove mud before making it to the foot of the staircase. From there they climb the steps and have the time of their lives, leaping like acrobats on the moon's surface.
