From Captivity to Freedom: Themes in Ancient and Modern Slavery is a collection of thematically arranged papers on ancient and modern slavery. The papers explore economic, social and cultural aspects of slave systems in Classical Antiquity and in the Early Modern and Modern Atlantic, with a particular focus on the Greco-Roman world, the Caribbean, Brazil and the United States of America.
