"In this book, the authors have set out to construct a "metaphysical archeology" of space and place in the built landscape of Mexico. In the process, they identify the intangible, spiritual aspects of this land. To do so, they explore the philosophical non-materiality of Mexican land-based culture. As guides for the journey, the authors use the poetry and prose of Mexican literature, a cultural-anthropological approach to the culture of Mexico, and an ethnographic perspective to identify what people think and do in the spaces they occupy. Although most of the examples are drawn from the state of Queretaro, the location of the field study, many of the authors' conclusions apply to all of Mexico."--BOOK JACKET.
