Copenhagen 1950s is the first volume in a book series of four that tells the story of Copenhageners through pictures. The city and its inhabitants are presented through historical photos preserved in cultural institutions and commercial photo archives. In this book we go back to the Copenhagen of the fifties. The capital was struggling out of the shadow of the war, and the decade offers great contrasts. A cultural-historical description is given of the history of the capital from the later period of industrial society and the incipient transformation into the capital of today. In everyday life and parties. By day and by night. At work and at home. Year round and from cradle to grave. With representation as far as possible of all social groups and with content from all districts. From nuclear family No. 1: The royal couple and the three princesses, to the families in the dense bridge neighborhoods and those who were to leave the redevelopment-ready neighborhoods of inner city.
