"In 1951, Yousuf Karsh accepted a Ford commission to photograph workers for use in the carmaker's advertising and annual reports. While not the subjects normally associated with the internationally-renowned photographer, the workers at the Ford Motor Company and Atlas Steels in Ontario and Sharon Steel in Pennsylvania are portrayed with the same luminsoity as his celebrity portraits. But some were not published. Considering them provocative and suggestive, Ford rejected many of the photographs including the cover image shown here.
