The French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy has established an ontology based on ‘social’ ideas. His concept of ‘social’ is not something concrete or clearly defined (e.g. the state, the masses, etc.), but is purely about being part of society in singular plurality; thus, politics is subordinate to that social concept. In this respect, the state and its policies no longer represent a higher authority. With contributions by Chantal Bax, Reinhold Clausjürgens, Simon Herzhoff, Oliver Marchart, Maud Meyzaud, Jean-Luc Nancy, Kurt Röttgers
