In June, 1941, sixteen-year-old Lena Jedwab left Bialystok for summer camp in Russia, and ended up in an orphanage in Udmurtia. All her experiences she commited to her diary, which she kept in Yiddish. Her loneliness, homesickness, and complete lack of knowledge of her family's fate back in Poland are expressed in its pages.
