Heinz-Günter Prager (b. 1944 in Herne; lives and works in Cologne and Plomeur, France) is one of the most important sculptors of his generation. In his sculptures, he inquires into basic issues of space, with his central themes being line, the body, weight, and location. Prager's works are always accompanied by theoretical considerations; he leaves almost nothing up to chance. Along with his sculptural oeuvre, the artist has also created an equally fascinating body of drawing work. Eugen Gomringer described it thus: 'there is something lonely about this self-contained graphic work.' it is the result of a strong, independent, and unconventional personality. The book comprises 120 drawings made between 1966 and 2018. The spectrum extends from sculptural considerations to highly refined articulations in various techniques such as pencil, ink, gouache, oil paint, wax crayon, and collage.
