The Dakota deal
Work detail
For John McCallam, escaped prisoner on the run, the discovery of the deserted cabin and the dead body of a man seemed just the lucky break he needed. Here was his chance to assume a whole new identity, become another person, even down to a change of clothing. But little did McCallam realize the nature and character of the man he became. He could not have bargained for being mistaken by the good folk of North Bend for the notorious gunman Frank Chater, hired by the leading town men to rid them of the threat and growing menace of Royce Chisholm and his sadistic sidekicks. Had he exchanged one prison for another? Could he escape both, or was he finally trapped?
