The ideas presented in this work are representative of what is called covenant eschatology. This is the view that God has kept His promises in fulfilling all prophecy by the time of the passing of Old Israel in 70 AD. - p. 55. Jesus' statement in Matthew 5:17-18 that "heaven and earth" had to pass away before the Law of Moses could pass has caused more than a little consternation and confusion in the commentaries. Sabbatarians point to these verses -- and to literal "heaven and earth" -- and declare that Torah, at least the Sabbath mandate, therefore remains binding. After all, "heaven and earth" have not passed away! Others declare that while "heaven and earth" have obviously not passed, nonetheless, the Law of Moses -- at least most of it -- has passed away. This is a clear violation of Jesus' words: "not one jot or one tittle" would pass from the law until it was all -- not just some of it -- fulfilled. The problem is that Jesus said NONE would pass until it was ALL fulfilled. Yet, all futurist views say that SOME (most) has passed, even though some of it remains unfulfilled! What is wrong with this picture? Isn't there something wrong with any view that violates Jesus' emphatic, unambiguous words? Yes, there is something wrong, horribly wrong, with these views!
