In this new selection, the literary heroes of Haim Hazaz join together to sketch his unadulterated, 'disappearing' portrait of the Jew, the Hebrew and the Israeli of all time. In the leaps of places and times, at times revealing and at times implied a hidden plot of characters, each of which is dubbed in its own jargon and language. The streets of Florence, the Yemenite houses in Jerusalem, the quarters on the banks of the Seine in Paris and the Eastern European town, are portrayed with a rare expression of ecstatic realism. The more local the spoken languages of the protagonists, the more surprising the generality of the stories and the more convincing they are in their universality. The vigorous transitions from one geographical space to another and from a near-distant historical era, place fulcrums on which the panoramic basis of Jewish existence is built. In his fiction, Hazaz emphasized the most colorful and wonderful diversity in Hebrew literature, the writing villages of a single writer. In front of the flowing river of all the moving writings, this selection of stories seeks to be one 'reading bank', from which it will be possible to overlook the many districts whose river of creation has crossed over
