Wai ánae ecological characterization
Work detail
"The goal of the Waianae Ecological Characterization (WEC) was to create a 'living' product that summarizes socio-economic, physical, biological, historical, and cultural information for the Waianae moku [district] along with Geographic Information System (GIS) data and resources. More importantly, this product can be used by educators, planners, and decision-makers for land use planning, resource management, and educational curriculum development." Includes six tutorials for using the GIS software and data. The seven thematic data categories for the WEC GIS are: Climate and hazards; Coastal and marine [habitats, human use, and management]; Freshwater [resources and monitoring]; Geography; Human dimension; Terrestrial [components and management]; and, Imagery and raster data.
