The former priory of Montazais depended on Fontevraud, a monastery founded by Robert d'Arbrissel at the end of the eleventh century. Located in the current commune of Savigné (86400, Vienne) and established at the beginning of the twelfth century, this priory included in its beginnings two female and male communities, like its mother abbey. Rescued from a much more abundant documentation, two cartularies send us numerous donations written in Latin in the twelfth century and at the beginning of the following century, the originals of which have all disappeared. The first cartulary, approximately dated to the 1140s, is a líber tradítionum only known from the edition made by Léon Faye in 1853. The second, incomplete and kept in the Departmental Archives of Maine-et-Loire, dates back to the beginning of the sixteenth century. His last folios, lost, were transcribed by Dom Fonteneau in the eighteenth century.
