This paper is a brief summary of contemporary notions about life, the universe and humanity's place in it. It addresses the missing dimension in education: meaning. And it is a call to action based on these ideas.Science has provided us with the basis of a new world-view that can help us avoid, or at least mitigate, the consequences of the rampant consumerism that is causing unprecedented damage to the environment and the creatures with which we share it.It is the responsibility of people of goodwill everywhere, and educators in particular, to learn, adopt and convey the wisdom of the new paradigm before the ecological crisis at hand will lead to unprecedented disaster.
