It is generally known that the behavior of asphalt paving mixtures under conditions of induced stress is affected by the response of the asphalt cement in the mix. During the service life of the pavement, asphalt is exposed to low temperatures, which tend to alter its rheological response. It is important to study the low-temperature rheology of asphalts to gain a better understanding of the complex factors that affect the low-temperature behavior of flexible pavements. A storehouse of information and research data pertaining to low-temperature properties of paving asphalts exists in the literature. However, much of the data is fragmented and scattered. This brief state-of-the-art report provides as many references as possible for each test parameter so that the reader can retrieve pertinent information in a specific area of interest.
