The paper describes the geographical distribution of loess and the associated characteristics and explains the meaning of representation of loess landforms on large-scale maps. The various types of loess landform are systematically classified and tabulated. The classification of types required for the preparation of topographical maps is achieved through field experiments. Loess landforms, such as valley, plateau, ridge, knoll and platform, their characteristics and contour profiles are examined. The principles of cartographic representation and synthesis are discussed. Configurations from similar type regions are presented as examples.
