Scrapbook of articles from newspapers, chiefly on writers; also a few obituaries of actors (John Lester Wallack), public figures (Hamilton Fish and Elizabeth Bonaparte), and publishers (Fletcher Harper and William Wood.) Substantial material on Charles Dickens's visit to the U.S. in 1867-1868, including a photograph of the author. A badly damaged and brittle copy of the Evening post semi-weekly, New York, Jun. 14, 1878 (v. 69, no. 48) was originally laid in, probably for the lengthy article on William Cullen Bryant; patrons may consult the microfilm copy (LCCN sn 83030390). Bookseller's label of Cooper & Sheridan, New York. Two groups of unused pages, one 14 p., the other 68 p.
