Love is a frenzy
Work detail
As a nightclub singer, Rachel was used to men’s admiration – but seventeen-year old Nicky Hammond was something different. His boyish devotion was sweet and touching and sincere – but Rachel couldn’t possibly take it seriously, let alone return it; yet how could she make Nicky see that without hurting him? But, ironically, all her kind efforts to let Nicky down lightly were wasted when she met his father – for Mark Hammond refused to believe she was anything but an unscrupulous gold-digger, a cradle-snatcher – or worse. Yet the more she saw of Mark the more she found herself caring for him. Rachel had tried to do her best in a difficult situation; was her only reward to be heartbreak?
