"This report gives a population and economic profile of Prentiss and Jefferson Davis county, Mississippi. The analysis of past and present trends in primary and secondary employment results in employment projections by major industrial category through 1990. Population projections for the area are based on forecast employment opportunities. The 1990 employment projection for the Prentiss area of 1,940 jobs represents an increase of approximately 500 over the 1970 figure. Almost half these new jobs are forecast in the manufacturing category. The 1990 Prentiss planning area population is forecast at 3,400. The town of Prentiss forecast for 1990 is 2,600. The report discusses and forecasts personal income, wholesale and retail trade, and makes recommendations for area economic development."
