All Jane Hollis has ever known about the father who abandoned her is his name - Andrew Hollis - until a newspaper exposes him to be the famous author and art critic Ben Tyrill, linked with a suspected international art forgery. His hiding place blown by the media, Jane impulsively travels to Amalfi in Italy to find him. On the train, her thoughts in turmoil, she is befriended by Carl Beaumont, but at first grateful for his company, Jane is shocked to discover that he is a journalist - on her father's trail. How can she arrive at her father's house seeking a reconciliation when she has a newshound with a story in his sights in tow? Jane's loyalties are torn as she tries to defend the father she trusts instinctively, but finds herself increasingly attracted to Carl. Is there a chance that she can bring the two men in her life together, or will the truth behind the art fraud keep them all apart forever?
