Poggio Civitate (Murlo)
Work detail
"Poggio Civitate (often called Murlo for the municipality it's in) is one of the best preserved Etruscan communities of the 8th through 6th centuries BCE. This time period was one of significant change in the region, as communities innovated, evolved, and competed with one another through a process of dynamic urbanization. Poggio Civitate's major phases of social development are reflected in the site's aristocratic domestic architecture, the latest phase of which preserves some of the most evocative and enigmatic architectural sculpture in the region. This work also explores industrial production and the site's final destruction and abandonment"--
