X91;Focus Beijing? brings together the work of two generations of prominent Chinese artists. The first generation grew up in the 1960s. Their work is politically motivated and refers to China?s traumatic history and its social and cultural revolutions over the past decades. The second generation grew up in the 1980s: the period of China?s Open-Door policy and a greater orientation to the West. Individuality and intuition are central to their artistic practices.0The works come from the extensive collection of contemporary Chinese art amassed by Henk and Victoria de Heus-Zomer during their visits to artists? studios in Beijing since 1998. In addition to a selection from their collection, the exhibition includes specially commissioned works by several artists.0The catalogue contains essays by Feng Boyi and the exhibition?s curator, Noor Mertens, an interview with Henk and Victoria de Heus-Zomer by Hans den Hartog Jager, and short entries on each artwork by Hans den Hartog Jager and Feng Boyi. 0Exhibition: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, the Netherlands (14.06-21.09.2014).
