Werner Reinisch was born as a Sudeten German on 16 December 1930 in Jokes near Karlovy Vary in what is now the Czech Republic. His love of art was evident from an early age and acquired an Expressionist accent at the Art Academy in Karlsruhe through the "Brücke" artist Erich Heckel. To mark Reinisch's birthday and the 50th anniversary of his first exhibition this volume presents 100 works from six decades of his creative work. They include primarily oil paintings, but also etchings lithographs, drawings and watercolours. He finds the artistic freedom and tranquillity for his works in the untouched landscapes of southern France, which are reflected in his work.
