These three volumes illustrate 37% of the 4,586 species and subspecies of butterfles found in Brazil. A total of 1,727 different butterflies species and subspecies are illustrated in photographs, including exaples of the male and female forms of some species as well as one or more subspecies of others. The photographs are organized into sections by family and at the end of each section is a list of all the species of that family in Brazil with their general geographic distribution.
