The Finnish artist and filmmaker Eino Ruutsalo (1921?2001) blazed new trails on the sixties art scene with his bold genre-crossing and multi-disciplinary collaborations with musicians, poets, and dancers. His extensive body of work includes graphic art, paintings, sculptures, visual poetry, collages, lumino kinetic art, documentary film, scripted film, and experimental short film. From the sixties onwards, he exhibited together with Fluxus and in many major international art forums. His experimental short films were distributed in the United States in the sixties and seventies, and they continue to be screened to this day in art museums and at film events throughout the world.00This is the first book ever published about Ruutsalo?s experimental sixties and his influence on Finnish art. It is based on Marko Home?s forthcoming doctoral thesis to be completed in autumn 2021.
