Russ Wikeley settles in Del Norte, South Dakota, and after foiling a bank robbery he's persuaded to stand for sheriff in the town's elections. However, Diamond Jim Stoner, a gang boss, wants his own man to become sheriff and attempts to undermine Wikeley. When his plan backfires, he tries to frame his adversary for robbery and murder.
