Alberto Manrique Martín
Work detail
The present edition condenses the extensive work of outstanding architect and engineer Alberto Manrique Martín (Bogotá 1891-1968), one of the most prolific professionals of the first half of the 20th century in Colombia, whose contributions were instrumental in the development of an eclectic mixture of art deco and modernism in the architectural and urban landscape of Bogotá. "For the Group of Research of History of Latin American Architecture of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, addressing the study of Alberto Manrique Martín represented a great challenge. For several years, we had housed the intention of doing monographic studies on Colombian architects that filled gaps in our architectural microhistory. To start a series of monographies with Alberto Manrique Marín is in a certain way, was the most logical approach. He was, not only the architect who encouraged the founding of the Society Colombian Architecture, but also one of the most recognized figures of the profession and a prolific builder during a good part of the 20th century" (HKB Translation) --Page 15.
