Wörterbuch zu den Homerischen Gedichten
Work detail
Since Georg Autenrieth, then director of the Gymnasium at Zweibrücken, composed this dictionary (first edition Teubner, Leipzig, 1873), it became the necessary tool for generations of students because it contains the whole vocabulary used in the Iliad and the Odyssey with definitions and the places where they appear in the Homeric texts. While the pass of time is perceivable in some definitions, it still is an extraordinary help and should be in the library of any people interested in classic Greek studies. Although there are relatively inexpensive editions of its English translation by R. P. Keep, by the University of Oklahoma Press, it is always useful to check the German source text.
