Former SIS agent Edward Mills led the effort a decade ago to help a well-known Russian scientist defect to England. Unfortunately, the operation went sour, the scientist disappeared, two of Mills' fellow agents were killed, and a million pounds in bearer bonds went missing. Mills was blamed for the fiasco, and the government convicted him of fraud, since the missing bearer bonds were last seen in his possession. After 10 years, he's finally released from prison.
