The Gay Report contains the results of the first comprehensive survey of the homosexual community. In 1977, Karla Jay and Allen Young distributed several hundred thousand copies of their survey to lesbians and gay men. Over five thousand of them, between the ages of fourteen and eighty-two, from all over the United States and Canada, filled out the extensive questionnaires about their lifestyles and sexual experiences.
