An archaeologist examines a diary of a Jewish ex-pirate unearthed in Tzefat (Safed), which contains a valuable treasure map. Traveling to Jamaica, he is tailed everywhere by an unknown usurper. The diary shows how a young Jewish boy in Inquisition Spain becomes a naval captain, then a pirate, and finally returns to life as a religious Jew.
