The present work was edited in good faith from the Marquis de Surville’s papers by Charles Vanderbourg. See Bib# 2060052/Fr# 1367 for the elegant ‘nouvelle édition’ of 1824, in original drab wrappers, uncut and Bib# 4103003/Fr# 1368 for the supplementary Poésies inédites of 1827, edited by P.G. Roujoux and Charles Nodier (a believer), in original printed wrappers. See also J.-F. Jeandillou, Supercheries littéraires: la vie et l’oeuvre des auteurs supposés.
