Report of Superintendent, the Colored Orphanage of North Carolina
Work detail
These reports were published shortly after the death of Superintendent T.K. Borders in October 1940. Following a brief introduction, the reports cover all facets of life at the Orphanage, including finances, food production, living conditions, and the orphans themselves. Securing financing for improving the overall quality of life for both workers and children was an issue of particular concern. Internal and external repairs to the buildings, purchasing of new supplies, raising of salaries, and providing for food and recreation were chief areas of need. Charts noting donations and expenditures are included in the report, as are brief updates from various departments within the Orphanage.
