Illustrates how the narrative of Italian freedom from anti-Semitism was deliberately promoted by the Italian foreign ministry to obtain an non-punitive peace treaty, despite a deeply rooted anti-Semitic culture and legislation. Also shows how Jewish memory influenced national self-representation and the reconstruction of the Italian Jewish community.
