Der Kirschbaum
Work detail
Every Wednesday Ingbert Wagner takes his noonday meal at Sonja Spielberg's table, where she entertains a few paying guests of high caliber with her delicious culinary offerings. This is not enough for Ingbert, who hopes to join the ranks of those who share evening repasts there as well, for Ingbert is in love with Sonja Spielberg, although she is many years his elder. And how does the self-effacing Sonja feel about this? And what is the magic of the early blossoming cherry tree? Sonja's sister Maria and a panoply of hungry and voluble gentlemen, as well as Ingbert's fiancee, circle around this unlikely pair in Gabriele Wohmann's story of alienation and rejuvenation, the offspring of the dinner table.
