Developing new adult clienteles by recognizing prior learning

Higher education needs to make up for unavoidable and increasing losses in its enrollment of traditional students. New clienteles of adult students offer colleges the best opportunity for offsetting present and pending enrollment declines. The course of action for individual colleges are presented by contributors known for their experience in nontraditional college programs for adults all focus on recognition of prior learning because of its pivotal importance to the success of new adult degree programs. Existing systems and models of systems for awarding credit, assessing and evaluating prior learning are presented, and the sourcebook is designed to speak to the concerns of leading college officers, registrars and admissions directors, faculty, and all others involved in developing new adult degree programs.
