Now widowed, Diana is reluctant to return to London for the season fearing that the scandalous circumstances behind her marriage will make her an object of scorn. Once setting up to re-enter the social whirl she meets again handsome Sir Henry, who she pined for long ago, and his friend, the sardonic Lord Lucan.
